Ever have one of those Days?

Well, I’ve had one of those years!  :-O

Ah, what a year…I’ve failed miserably at keeping up with all my blogs…but haven’t forgotten about them…just not enough time in a day.

But, a lot of things have changed and my priorities have changed with them!  We survived a tornado this year and learned a lot about ourselves, our church family, our relations and our friends.

We also learned some valuable lessons in patience, perseverance, and prayer!  Lots of Prayer!

So, I look forward to the beginning of Advent this year…with a full and happy heart…eager to devote my time to serving God in the ways he wants…eager to resume my study and research on modesty, eager to turn my life over to him once and for all…realizing that I am most certainly NOT in control…and never have been.

Funny what a tornado does!  :-)   You can check out my other blog for more on the storm and pictures…the storm that rocked our world!

So beginning tonight..I will start regular posting to this blog…at least once a week…you can also follow me on Twitter…http://twitter.com/holyhillbilly/

I’ll keep it updated with blog news for both blogs, and also updated for new items and sales in my store!

Peace to you all,

Rachel

Yesterday…..

Yesterday was an unusual day. We stayed busy all day! We’ve all had those days…and those days often lead us to forget the important things in life.

I had one of those days…we stayed busy all day..coming and going, getting frustrated at the kids for arguing, upset over the cost of groceries, fuming at rude drivers…not getting it all done…you know..

Then I met a lady…well, actually she called me. It was a recent customer of mine..she called and said that she was so glad to find another homeschooler who she wasn’t scared of…we talked for quite some time…then things got chaotic here and I had to get off the phone..but our conversation stayed with me.

She is a lot like me..trying to follow God’s will and still cope with issues of day to day life. Hmmm..I thought I was the only one! LOL! I knew I wasn’t, but it seems all the families you read about are so PERFECT, that it’s intimidating to get to know them. very few tell of the simple things in life.

Anyway, I digress…the conversation…we talked about the modesty issue and how others react..yet we still do it and still stick by our principles, we talked about headcoverings…which she does…I’m still not there yet, but I know that I will ultimately do what God wishes me to do. We talked about homeschooling techniques and why we do what we do…

Overall, the conversation was ordinary on the outside…but it touched me…God was letting us both know that we are not alone..He’s always with us, but He also guided us together for the common good. Yeah, sounds sappy…but it’s true!

Think about this…how often do you call someone and tell them that you appreciate them? Tell them you respect what they are doing? Take the time today to reach out and let someone know that you respect and appreciate them…it’s hard to take a stand on something and stick by it…so, even if you aren’t into the modesty thing, or the headcovering thing, or the homeschooling thing…support those that are..because they are doing God’s will…and it will touch your life somehow, somewhere! You just wait and see.

Until next time, Peace!

Hello Again!

It’s been a long time..I know!  However, I have been busy, both in family things and in research and work.  Please forgive me for neglecting my writing!  :-)

I’ve done a lot of thinking and praying lately and I have found myself revisiting the headcovering issue.  I’m not sure that I am called to do so, yet, but God keeps pulling me back to it..perhaps because of the references to obedience and respect.  Hmmm…maybe I’m a slow learner!

I am now a full time dress wearing Catholic…boy do I get some looks sometimes!  :-o

My daughter is 12 now..and is still very much a child…we don’t allow a lot of the influences that seem to make the other girls her age act about 18..so those have not been problems.  She is making the transition to dresses a little more slowly.  Most of the time she is wearing them, but we have made compromises on skorts (homemade ones).  I found some nice denim shorts that were longer and put knee length skirts over them.  She likes them when riding her bike and playing with her brother.

For now, that’s good.  She is still very much a little girl at heart without all the teenage “angst” that the other girls her age have, so I’m not worried..she’ll make it there!

I’ll try to keep the blog updated on a more regular basis now, but for now, I must go!  Peace and Love!  :-)
